The two blockbusters with two big directors in her second year in the Kannada film industry propelled Aindrita Ray straight into the top league of actors.As the rather tiresome cliché goes, she has never looked back since. Having acted in nearly 20 Kannada films with superstars, Aindrita makes it clear that she is not in the race for the No. 1 position in Sandalwood. “Who cares about the No. 1 position? Today, I will be there; tomorrow someone else might claim it. How does it matter anyway? I don’t believe in the race to be No. 1. Other actors might want to be part of the rat race. I am least bothered.All that matters to me is my performance on screen and how people remember me,” affirms the charming Aindrita.

For someone without a godfather or family backing in showbiz, Aindrita’s achievement is worth a mention. This Bengali spent her childhood being brought up all over the country, and eventually settled in Bengaluru to pursue dentistry. But as fate would have it, Aindrita ended up ruling the Kannada film industry bysheer coincidence, while the dentistry course took a backseat! Hmm... if only more dentists could look like this...
