Krishnan Marriage Story shooting commences

Shooting for the movie Krishnan Marriage Story, featuring Nidhi Subbaiah and Ajay, has commenced in the forests of Sakleshpura. The movie is being directed by debutante Nuthan Umesh, a one-time assistant to Shashank who directed the hit Krishnan Love Story.

Though Krishnan Marriage Story sounds like the sequel of Krishnan Love Story, Nidhi makes it clear that the movie has an independent and new story. “Krishnan Marriage Story has nothing to do with Krishnan Love Story. It has a different storyline and I play the role of a lively and bubbly girl,” she points out.

Industry grapevine has it that Ajay wanted to encash on the ‘Krishnan…’ trend of success. Post the success of Krishnan Love Story, director Shashank had even announced its sequel Krishnan Love Story-2. But the stupendous performance of Krishnan Love Story had already separated Shashank, the female lead Radhika Pandit, who was credited with the movie’s success, and Ajay.

Then, Ajay took upon himself the responsibility of carrying forward the ‘Krishnan…’ tag. He has also roped in music director V Shridhar, who composed the hit songs for Krishnan Love Story. Nuthan Umesh has written the story and screenplay for the movie, which will be shot for 50 days in various locations across the state.

It is being produced by Vijay Kumar under the banner Deeksha Productions. Before selecting Nidhi as the female lead, the unit went on a heroine-hunting expedition. All the leading stars, including Ramya, Radhika Pandit, and Praneetha were approached for the female lead role. But all of them turned down the offers due to one or the other reason.

Though he made his debut in 2003 through Prem-directed Excuse Me, Ajay is yet to find a foothold in Kannada films. In the last seven years, there are hardly any hits to his credit with Taj Mahal and Krishnan Love Story being exceptions.

But the credit of all his hit films has been taken away by the heroines. If Excuse Me opened the floodgates for Ramya, Taj Mahal’s success was attributed to Pooja Gandhi; Post Krishnan Love Story, Radhika Pandit is hogging the limelight. If Krishnan Marriage Story succeeds, will Ajay or Nidhi walk away with the credit? Wait and watch.
