Prakash Rai to produce Puttakkana Highway

Following the success of his maiden Kannada production Naanu, Nanna Kanasu, Prakash Rai has decided to produce another Kannada film titled Puttakanna Highway.

The movie delves at length on current issues relating to urban infrastructure development. It chronicles the travails of a widow, Puttakka, who loses her prime agricultural land for a highway expansion project.

The original story – Puttakkana Medical College – has been written by writer-turned-film director Nagathihalli Chandrashekar. Subsequently, theatre personality B Suresha developed the story to a movie length.

Suresha is a close friend of Prakash Rai and the two co-produced Naanu, Nanna Kanasu. They have joined hands together for Putttakkana Highway. Suresha will also direct the film.

Shruthi has been selected to play the lead role of Puttakka while Prakash Rai will also appear in a prominent role. The star cast includes Achyuth Kumar, Neenasam Ashwath, Veena Sundar and Sihikahi Chandru.

Music maestro Hamsalekha, who composed the tunes for Naanu, Nanna Kanasu, has been retained for Puttakkana Highway project by Prakash. H M Ramachandra wil be the cinematographer.

Though the movie storyline gives an impression that it is an art film, director Suresha contends that it will be a typical commercial film. According to him, the narration will be different to convey the problems of displaced people.
