Prithviraj dons a new avatar ahead of period film, Urumi

Prithviraj is all set to don a new avatar as a producer for his forthcoming film Urumi. Santosh Sivan had recently signed Prithviraj and Genelia in lead roles for this period film set in the 15th century. The latest news is that Prithviraj and Santosh Sivan are going to jointly produce the film. They have set up a new production company named 'August Cinema' and pre-production is going on in full swing for the film.

The tri-lingual film which will be made in Malayalam, Tamil and English narrates the story of a group who want to assassinate Vasco Da Gama, the Portuguese explorer in 1498. Prithviraj is the leader of this gang and Genelia plays the role of a Portuguese princess. Urumi is a 8 ft long flexible sword which is used in Kalari fights, a martial arts form. Santosh Sivan is also handling the cinematography of the film. Sankar Ramakrishnan who had earlier directed the short film 'Island Express' in the 'Kerala Cafe' anthology is writing the script for Urumi. Deepak Dev is composing the music.

Urumi will go on floors on August 17 in Kerala and later it will be shot around Malshej Ghat, Maharashtra, where the climax of Raavanan had been shot. Prithviraj had earlier acted in Santosh Sivan's Anandabhadram co-starring Riya Sen. The actor is riding high on a number of prestigious films including Urumi and there's no denying that he playing his cards right.
