Ajith, Venkat Prabhu's Mangaatha launched
Ajith’s 50th film Mangaatha was launched in Chennai earlier today. Venkat Prabhu, the director of the film and Dhayanidhi Alagiri who is going to produce the film on Cloud Nine Movies banner attended the event which was a low key affair. The film’s name has been making rounds for quite sometime now and the film itself has been making news for various reasons.
After Ajith’s 49th film Aasal released in February this year, Dhayanidhi Alagiri signed him for a film on Cloud Nine movies banner. Gowtham Menon had started working on a script for this film but Ajith took a long break to concentrate on his racing career. Meanwhile, Gowtham Menon moved on to direct a thriller, Nadunisi Naaigal with Sameera Reddy and Veera in lead roles. Soon after Ajith’s arrival, Gowtham Menon opted out of the project and Venkat Prabhu was roped in to direct Ajith’s 50th film. Although the story has been kept under wraps, buzz is that the film might be set in Mumbai. It has also been reported by a section of media that Nagarjuna will play an important role in the film, although there’s no official confirmation.
Neetu Chandra and Lakshmi Rai are the heroines in this multi-starrer. Ganesh Venkatraman and Premji Amaren will also be seen in important roles. Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing the music and Shankti Saravanan is the cinematographer. Venkat Prabhu’s previous films Chennai 600028, Saroja and Goa enjoyed considerable commercial success and this is the first time that he is going to direct one of the biggest heroes in Tamil film industry.
