Simbu has his hands full

Silambarasan has been flying high ever since Gautham Menon’s Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa turned out to be a huge hit. He was flooded with offers from most of the leading directors in Tamil film industry. Lingusamy had announced his next with Simbu and the actor himself decided to resurrect his long pending projects, Valiban and Poda Podi. In the middle of nowhere, Simbu started shooting for the Tamil remake of a recent Telugu film, Vedam. The Tamil version has been titled Vaanam and it has Simbu, Bharat, Sneha Ullal in lead roles. Ganesh Janardhan is producing the film on VTV Productions banner along with Magic Box Pictures banner. The original director of Vedam, Krish is directing the Tamil version of the film and this is his first film in Tamil. Nirav Shah is cranking the camera; Anthony Gonsalvez is the editor while Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing the music. Ganesh himself will be seen in a cameo role. The film is all set for a Diwali release.

After completing the shooting for Vaanam, Simbu will resume shooting for his long pending project Poda Podi. Varalakshmi Sarathkumar is going to make her debut as a heroine in this film. The shooting of Poda Podi will begin in London in August. He recently met percussionist Siva Mani and music director Dharan in Mumbai for discussing about Poda Podi. Not only that, Simbu seems to have taken his singing career seriously. He was spotted in Kalasa Studio, Chennai where he rendered his voice for a song in Panneerselvam’s upcoming film 18 Vayasu. Simbu had also sung a song for Panneerselvam’s previous film Renigunta, which turned out to be a chartbuster.

Meanwhile, Simbu had also got a call from Shankar’s office to don an important role in the remake of ‘3 Idiots’ in Tamil and Telugu. Although, he hasn’t given his commitment to the project, he has revealed to the media that he’s trying to adjust his dates for the film. Amidst all these projects, Simbu and Lingusamy’s film is unlikely to go ahead in the same combination. Simbu has opted out of the project, while Lingusamy has gone ahead and chose Kajal Agarwal as the lead heroine. The untitled film will be produced by Dayanidhi Alagiri on Cloud Nine Movies banner. We wonder what more does Simbu has in store for us!
